Sarah had never considered herself beautiful. At 65, she felt her youth had passed her by without ever truly blossoming. Loneliness and regret were her constant companions. One stormy night, in a moment of despair, she called out to the devil.
To her shock, he appeared, offering her beauty and pleasure for 10 years in exchange for her soul. Sarah agreed, signing the contract in blood.
The devil transformed her, granting her extraordinary beauty. Sarah threw herself into a decade of indulgence and hedonism. As the 10 years drew to a close, she asked the devil for two final months to experience “spiritual pleasures.”
Intrigued, he agreed. Sarah devoted herself to charity, meditation, and acts of kindness. When the devil returned to claim her soul, he was stunned by her radiant inner beauty.
At the gates of hell, the flames recoiled from Sarah’s presence. Angels appeared, declaring her soul belonged in heaven. The devil protested, brandishing their contract.
“We don’t look at contracts, we look at souls,” the angels said. “And this is a heavenly soul.”
Sarah, ever honorable, insisted on keeping her word to the devil. But the angels explained her old self was gone, transformed by her final months of goodness.
The devil, exasperated by Sarah’s enduring virtue even as she tried to enter hell, finally gave up his claim. “Take her to heaven and be done with it!” he declared.
As the angels led her away, Sarah realized that by cultivating inner beauty and goodness, she had outwitted the devil himself.
