Every night, when Timmy went to sleep, he had the same scary dream. In this dream, he saw a big, black monster sitting on the ground. The monster had huge hands and big legs, though they were a bit smaller than its hands. Its skin was as dark as the night sky, and its eyes glowed bright red like traffic lights. The monster didn’t have a nose, but it had a big mouth full of sharp teeth.
Timmy would always wake up feeling afraid, his heart racing. He didn’t want to go back to sleep because he was scared of seeing the monster again.
One night, as Timmy drifted off to sleep, he found himself in the same dream. But this time, something was different. He heard a strange sound. It sounded like… crying?
Timmy looked around and saw the monster. But instead of looking scary, the monster was sitting on the ground, holding its foot and sobbing. Timmy was surprised. He had never thought that monsters could cry!
Slowly, Timmy walked closer. “What’s wrong?” he asked, his voice shaky but kind.
The monster looked up, its red eyes filled with tears. “I have a nail stuck in my foot,” it said in a deep, rumbly voice. “But my hands are too big to pull it out. It hurts so much!”
Timmy felt sorry for the monster. He realized that even though the monster looked scary, it could feel pain just like anyone else. Without thinking twice, Timmy knelt down next to the monster’s foot.
“I can help you,” Timmy said bravely. “My hands are small enough to pull out the nail.”
The monster nodded gratefully. Timmy carefully pulled out the nail, and the monster let out a big sigh of relief.
“Thank you, little one,” the monster said, smiling for the first time. Timmy noticed that even though the monster’s teeth were sharp, its smile was kind.
From that night on, Timmy’s dreams changed. Instead of being scared of the monster, he looked forward to seeing his new friend. They would play games, tell jokes, and have amazing adventures together.
Timmy learned that sometimes, things that seem scary at first can turn out to be wonderful friends. All it takes is a little courage and kindness to see past the scary outside and find the friend within.
And every night, as Timmy drifted off to sleep, he smiled, excited for the fun he would have with his monster friend in his dreams.
